How do you keep gluten free tortillas from breaking?
A key component for this recipe is the cream of tartar as a leavening agent. I would also suggest that you always serve these tortillas warm to help maintain the flexible texture when you are enjoying them.
How do you make gluten free tortillas from scratch?
As I mentioned, this is a super easy and simple recipe. You can have these tortillas ready within minutes. You will need the following ingredients: gluten-free flour, I used arrowhead mills. After that, everything else is super simple like salt, baking soda, cream of tartar, olive oil and water.
Method for making these delicious tortillas:
First thing you will need to do is dry ingredients in a bowl and whisk everything together. Once it is well combined, mix in olive oil until crumbly. Then add water to combine and kneed for a few minutes until the dough takes form. At this point, the dough will be sticky so use olive oil or additional flour on your hands to form into small balls. Then press between a 2 pieces of parchment paper with a tortilla press. Use a roller to make it thinner. Slowly peel one side of the parchment paper and cook on a medium heat non stick for a minute or so on each side. Repeat process and reuse parchment paper. Enjoy! ☺️
